Fashion and Design Department at MBC

The Fashion and Design Department (FDS) is one of the major departments of MBC responsible for training individuals in fashion and design. The FDS focuses on the training needs of each learner and offers training experience tailored to meeting the goals of each individual student. The FDS training model was designed to pass on fashion and design skills to the students in the shortest time possible and with simplicity. At the FDS, the saying “time is money and money is time” takes the first precedent. A 2-year fashion and design course was compressed into 9 months and this is one of the attributes that makes MBC unique. As part of the institutions strategy to fulfilling objective number 1 & 2, the courses were broken down into different packages according to the training needs of the student. MBC offers training packages for beginners and refresher courses in fashion and design. However, only students that undertake full package at MBC and fulfill the desired competencies are awarded certificates.

Future Plan

MBC is still constrained by space and it is the reason why the institution has not yet maximized its potential and development objectives. In future, the institution is planning to establish a bigger administrative Centre (Commercial buildings with more technical infrastructure) to expand all departments and impact a wider community and the country in general. In this regard, the MBC training model which has turned out to be very successful is expected to be replicated country wide in other sister branches and other private and government institutions. This model is also expected to be extended to other technical courses to accelerate job creation and development in the country.
